QSH9_07 === Québec Short Hops for FS9
Kamouraska === CLL2

This scenery is located on the South shore of the St.Lawrence River,about a third of the way from my Rivière Ouelle scenery to Rivière-du-Loup.

Like St.Joseph-de-la-Rive, it is a traditional type of airfield and village. The runway there of course is dirty grass and lit at night with kerosene torches. Do not expect these to be too light at night The real ones were not either.

My representation of the village and its surroundings is very fictitious. There is no aifield so, I made a grass strip it is long enough for even the DC-3. You might have to practice a bit though.

A SPECIAL NOTE, PLEASE READ

There you will find lots of candies, a skunk, burning trash in a barrel, an Amish buggy....and lots of bugs for the bug chasers.

Bug chasers are a special breed of pilots looking for things not looking correctly. I must admit, I have a tendency to do this as well. Here are a few tips to help you find some.

Note that the buggy is not all that perfect and a bit too big. I had made it smaller originally but, then, the horse was too big. So, there was no other way. My skunk I think is pretty fat also amd a bit of a clown, but hey, this is a country skunk, well fed. Also, the people on the porch are a few inches too high, If I lower them, I chop off part of their feet. To solve this would be to redo the whole building or add special.......you get my drift I think.

Please bear in mind that most if not all of these minor details can be fixed. This however is time consuming and keeps me from doing other things. Also, I am lazy. So there, please do not write me if you do not like the way I hold my paint brush. And yes, the trailer is white.

I can only work with what I have and the way I know how to do things. I am improving on those with every stroke. Nothing makes any creator happier then people happy with his work. I cannot satisfy everyone.

If you enjoy my work, I am grateful. If you do not want to buy, bye bye.......oh yeah, it is freeware.....

Here, once again, I installed my kerosene torches to light the runway anytime after daylight. The feedback from this in Ile-aux-Coudres and St.Joseph-de-la-Rive was positive so here are more. Those of us who were here then recall those black shaped steel balls about one foot in diameter that were kerosene torches used to make aware of road construction.

They were often used to light a runway at night. They were all installed by hand and lit by hand also. Kick one and it will roll away and make a mess. You will see them easily in the day but remember, that after daylight, do not expect too much brillancy from those, they are only small torches. In french, we called them "cochons", meaning 'pigs' most likely because they were real dirty to handle Anyway they are different and fun.

==============================================

This series of scenery is aimed at making VFR flying in Québec most pleasant and attractive as I can make it. Québec Short Hops for FS9 starts the visit of the Province of Québec by adding in the St. Lawrence rivers sites that you can hop from one to the other using the lighthouses and other aids I include.

Please refer to the enclosed map. You will notice the sceneries already released.

I find it very pleasant specially at dawn or dusk to jump from one lighthouse to the other. There is very few minutes spent without at least one in sight.

Anyway, the idea is to make it look nice and have lots of fun.

You can upload any of the sceneries shown on the map if you make a search at either AvSim of FlighSim.com and search for author Leon Louis.

=========================================================

I wish to thank John de Langristin for the old car that I used to make my yellow. blue and red versions. I thank also Jordan Moore for his farm animals and also Jim Jackson (Northern Exposure) for his picnic tables and the fire inside the barrel. I thank Larry Farmer for his nice trees and Mobil gas station and some of his airplane macros. Thanks also to Tom Fica for his nice trucks and old fuel barrels, and for opening one of his barrels so I could set fire inside. I thank also Brian Moat for his nice wooden boats.

Very important, Tom Constantine is making the afcads and traffic to link all the fields in Québec Short Hops. These will be issued as they are ready.

Tom also tests my sceneries as does Jerry Kemp. This work is very important.

I must not forget Tom Hiscox and Brian McWilliams for the program "Airport for Windows" and also Matthias Brückner for the program EOD which I used to make my macros.

I also owe big thanks to Jerry Kemp and Tom Constantine for testing the beta versions of these sceneries and bringing me support and friendship.

I hope I did not forget anyone. If so, I am deeply sorry and please send me a note.

I N S T A L L A T I O N FOR ALL MY QUEBEC SHORT HOPS SCENERIES

If you do not have a Quebec Short Hops folder "Quebec SH9" where you usually install your sceneries, you must make one and make also one subfolder named scenery and another named texture.

You should then have:

xxxxxxx/Quebec SH9/scenery and
/texture

As many of my textures are repeated from one scene to the other, this will use lot less room on your hard drive.

Then,you must place the CONTENTS ONLY of the scenery folder in the above scenery folder you created.

Then, do the same with the CONTENTS ONLY of the texture folder.

Place the CONTENTS ONLY of the addon_scenery folder into:
xxxxxx#Flight Simulator 9/Addon Scenery/Scenery

Place the CONTENTS ONLY of the effects folder (if any is included with the download) in the Effects folder of your Flight Simulator.

You need to activate Quebec SH9 in the scenery library if not already done.

That is all.

Restart Flight Simulator and welcome to "La Belle Province"

Thank you

Enjoy your visit

Léon Louis
